Founded MapInfo Corporation with John Haller, Laszlo Bardos, Andy Dressel in 1985 upon graduation from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Company was first to “popularize” street mapping (where you type in an address and see a street map), and in 1994 it became a public company. O’Sullivan went on to found a rock band (Janet Speaks French), recording studio (Sonic Studios of Philadelphia), internet companies (including NetCentric), and an eponymous venture capital fund (SOSventures), which has backed several dozen start-ups, about 10 of which have been acquired by major companies or become public companies.
Co-creator (with George Favaloro of Compaq Computer) of the term “cloud computing” in 1996. Co-founder of international aid organization JumpStart International in 2003. Co-founder (with Cyril Ebersweiler of SOSventures) of the first seed-funding accelerator program in China (Chinaccelerator, 2009), and the first operational seed-funding hardware accelerator program (HAXLR8R, Shenzhen, January 2012).
Currently the Managing Director of Avego Ltd, a US/Ireland/China-based operation to enable transport efficiency.
